Another person will be pleading guilty in connection with the theft of federal funds from the Chippewa Cree Tribe, the Associated Press reports. Shad Huston will admit to theft from an Indian tribal government, bribery of an agent of a program receiving federal funds and failure to file a cash transaction, the AP said. His company overbilled the tribe $116,000 to pay off corrupt tribal leaders and he also gave a $25,000 SUV to a corrupt tribal chair, according to the AP. At least 10 people have been indicted in connection with corruption cases on the reservation. The cases put Montana on top a nationwide list of judicial districts with the most government corruption prosecutions. The high number is attributed to a program known as the Guardians Project. The U.S. Attorney's Office has been investigating corruption in Indian Country since 2011. Get the Story:
