Merv George, a member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe, is the new supervisor of Six Rivers National Forest in California. George starts his job later this month. He said he is the first American Indian to serve as supervisor in the U.S. Forest Service. "It's very humbling to pave the way for other native folks," George told The Eureka Times-Standard. George served four years on his tribe's council and two years as chairman. He has worked for the Forest Service since 2008. Get the Story:
