The Lytton Band of Pomo Indians in California is still waiting for approval of its land-into-trust application. After going through an environmental review that took three years, the Bureau of Indian Affairs issued a finding of no significant impact in June 2012. A final decision, however, hasn't been made. “Eventually this is going to happen. I can’t put a time frame on it,” tribal attorney Larry Stidham told The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat. The tribe wants 124 acres placed in trust for a housing project, a cultural center and other purposes. The tribe has donated $1 million to a local school district and is making payments to a fire protection district to address the impacts of the project. Get the Story:
