A 20-year-old man from the Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba was hospitalized after being shot by an RCMP officer in an incident on Monday that was witnessed by a number of children. Evan Cromarty was allegedly fleeing police when he was stopped at a baseball field where a game was in progress. His nine-year-old brother was among the witnesses to the shooting. "You couldn't help him stop crying because he was in shock you know," father Brian Cromarty told CBC News. "He just saw his brother get shot." It's not clear why Evan Cromarty was being pursued. But The Winnipeg Free Press reported that remains under police guard at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, where he was airlifted after the shooting. Manitoba Justice has ordered an investigation into the incident. A team from neighboring Alberta will be traveling to the reserve. Get the Story:
