Details have been released for meetings about creating a $380 million trust fund from the Keepseagle settlement. The Department of Agriculture settled the lawsuit in 2011 to address discrimination against Native ranchers and farmers. All claims were successfully processed so the Keepseagle plaintiffs and the Obama administration are proposing to create a $380 million trust fund to distribute the money to non-profit organizations that serve Native ranchers and farmers. Input from Indian Country will be solicited at a series of meetings. The schedule follows:
July 30, Tulsa, OKAll meetings will take place from 9:30am to 4pm local time. The Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative will be moderating the sessions. Additionally, three webinars have been scheduled. The details follow:
