There won't be another tribal member in the halls of Congress anytime soon. T.W. Shannon, a member of the Chickasaw Nation, lost his bid for the open U.S. Senate seat in Oklahoma. He was easily defeated in the Republican primary by Rep. James Lankford (R), who won 57 percent of the vote on Tuesday. Things were better for the two tribal members currently in Congress. Rep. Tom Cole (R-Oklahoma), who is also Chickasaw, and Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-Oklahoma), a member of the Cherokee Nation, won their GOP nominations. Get the Story:
