John Learned, a member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, is leading plains to establish the American Indian Center of the Great Plains. Learned, 59, is raising $10 million to acquire The Loretto, an event, office and meeting space in Kansas City, Missouri. He hopes for a grand opening later this year. “Something like this doesn’t exist, and there is a need,” Learned told The Kansas City Star. The North American Indian Tennis Association and the American Indian Athletic Hall of Fame plan to move into the building if everything goes well.
