Sen. Heitkamp hosts Native veterans summit in North Dakota

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp
(D-North Dakota) will host a Native American Veterans Summit on Saturday.
The summit takes place at the
United Tribes Technical College
in Bismarck. Native veterans will get a chance to talk to federal officials about the challenges they face.
Interior Secretary Sally Jewell
, Assistant Secretary Kevin Washburn, the head of the
Bureau of Indian Affairs
, and Jodi Gillette, the
White House
advisor for Native American affairs, are scheduled to attend. They are going to be in North Dakota as
President Barack Obama
and
First Lady Michelle Obama
visit the
Standing Rock Sioux Tribe
on Friday.
