Prairie Band Potawatomi Secretary James Potter passes at 56

James McKinley “Waubaunsee” Potter, the secretary for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation of Kansas, died in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday. He was 56.
Potter struck a deer while riding on the reservation, The Topeka Capital-Journal reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the paper said.
Potter served 16 years on the tribal council, including 12 years as treasurer and four years as secretary, according to his obituary.
