Members of the Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado elected Clement Frost as chairman in a special election on Wednesday. Frost, a former two-term chairman, received the most votes out of a field of six candidates. He was sworn in on Thursday morning after the results were certified. “We’re here to work for the people so that their way of life is comfortable,” Frost said at the ceremony, The Durango Herald. “We must meet the needs of the people, not the government.” Frost will serve out the remainder of the term of the late Jimmy Newton Jr.., who died in late March.
