Herman Dillon Sr., the longtime chairman of the Puyallup Tribe of Washington, died on Friday. He was 82. Dillon was first elected to the council in 1971. He served more than 35 years as its chairman, presiding over treaty rights victories, a land claim settlement and the establishment of the tribal casino. "Herman was a hard worker on the council for more than 35 years. He has been part of the movement of the tribe into where it is today," Vice Chair Bill Sterud told The Puyallup Tribal News. He was a veteran, a great family man, a dad, an uncle, a grandpa as well as a great tribal leader." Get the Story:
