The Cowlitz Tribe of Washington is asking the state to rename a park that plays a role in its history. The Lewis and Clark State Park was named for the famed explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. But they never actually came to the area during their expedition to the Pacific Northwest. So the tribe is asking for the name to be changed to the “Cowlitz Trail State Park.” The 621-acre site sits along a historic Cowlitz travel route. Get the Story:
