St. Regis Mohawk Tribe said to be close to land claim settlement

The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe is said to be close to a land claim settlement with the state of New York.

Details could be announced as soon as today, according to news reports. But some sources cautioned that a deal hasn't been finalized.

In July 2013, a federal judge dismissed most of the tribe's claims. But as part of a global settlement with Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), the tribe, the state and local governments agreed to talk about land claim issues.
