Thursday, May 1, 2014
The Atomic Safety and Licensing Board issued on a uranium mine that's opposed by the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota.
The tribe says the Powertech Uranium Corp. mine will harm sacred sites and cultural resources. A hearing will be held to determine whether the project can continue.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission awarded a license to Powertech to restart uranium mining at certain sites, including some within traditional Oglala territory.
