Minnesota city replaces Columbus Day with Chief Red Wing Day

The city council in Red Wing, Minnesota, voted to replace Columbus Day with Chief Red Wing Day.

The change honors the city's namesake, Hupahu Duta, or Red Wing. The Prairie Island Indian Community supported the change.

The change came as the city council in Minneapolis voted to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous People's Day.
