Native man's murder trial delayed due to jury roll problem

The murder trial of a Native man has been delayed a year due to problems with the jury roll in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Shaldon Wabason, 21, was due to go to trial for second-degree murder this week. But his lawyer successfully argued that the roll does not adequately represent Native people who live on reserves in the area.

A new jury roll will come out later this year. Wabason's lawyer said he will re-examine the list once again.

Native people make up about 8.2 percent of the population in Thunder Bay.
