Mashantucket Tribe banishes brothers after theft convictions

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut has banished two brothers who were convicted of theft charges, The New London Day reports.

Michael Thomas, a former chairman, was banished from the reservation and other tribal lands. He's currently serving an 18-month prison sentence although he is reportedly appealing after being convicted by a federal jury.

Steven Thomas, who is Michael's brother, pleaded guilty. He was banished for one year but was allowed to stay in his home on the reservation and commute to and from his job at the tribal casino.
