National Congress of American Indians President Brian Cladoosby and his wife were guests at the White House State Dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande on Tuesday night.

Cladoosby wore a traditional cedar hat and cedar vest. He also sported a bolo tie and a medallion that represented the French flag.

Cladoosby told Indian Country Today that he hoped to discuss repatriation issues with Hollande. Last year, a French auction house allowed the sale of cultural items over the objections of the Hopi Tribe and the U.S. Ambassador to France.

Cladoosby wasn't the only Native guest at the dinner. Mike Connor, the head of the Bureau of Reclamation who is a descendant of Taos Pueblo, attended along with Interior Secretary Sally Jewell.
