IHS awaits test results for botched diabetes screening

The Indian Health Service is awaiting test result for members of a Nevada tribe who may have been exposed to infectious diseases.
Marie Russell, deputy chief medical officer for the IHS for the Phoenix Area Office, doesn't think anyone was exposed as a result of a botched diabetes screening for the Fort
McDermitt Paiute-Shoshone Tribe of Nevada.
“To be clear, there is no outbreak,” Russell told the Associated Press. “We don’t believe there was exposure. We have no knowledge of any exposure to bloodborne disease or anything else.”
Some 21 tribal members have been contacted and the majority have been tested, Russell said.
