All Arizona tribal members eligible for in-state tuition

All members of Arizona tribes are eligible for in-state tuition regardless of residency.

The policy applies to Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona. Fewer than 10 students at each institution are affected but the change was welcomed by Indian educators.

"We won’t see the impact really soon, but it’s going to be for the next generation … it’s a win-win for all of us," Regent LuAnn Leonard, the executive director of the Hopi Education Endowment Fund, told The Downtown Devil.

Students need to provide proof of membership in a federally recognized tribe within Arizona. This includes Zuni Pueblo, whose reservation includes land in Arizona.
