Neil Young to perform benefit shows for First Nation in Alberta

Neil Young will perform four benefit shows in January for the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation in Alberta.

The "Honor the Treaties" tour will help the band with legal fees in its fight against oil sands development in the province.

"That river is our lifeline and has been for thousands of years. It has always sustained us with fish, food, water and travel – everything,” Alice Rigney, a band member, told CBC News. “If they destroy that, what will become of us? Are we going to become refugees on our own land? Where am I going to go?”

The tour includes dates in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
