The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan installed a new chief and council members today. Steven Pego, who was re-elected to the council in November, is the new chief. He will serve a two-year term. “It is truly an honor to be selected to serve as tribal chief for my Anishinaabe tribal community,” Pego said in a press release. “I will do everything in my power to ensure we all collectively work for what is in the best interest of the tribe.” Nine other council members were also sworn in today.
