The Senate Indian Affairs Committee approved three land measures at a business meeting on Wednesday. The committee passed S.235, a bill to transfer property from the Indian Health Service to the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. The land will be used to house patients who travel from remote and far-flung regions of the state. The House approved its version of the bill, H.R.623, on Tuesday. Passage of S.235 in the Senate would put it before President Barack Obama by the end of the year. The committee also approved S.611, the Sandia Pueblo Settlement Technical Amendment Act. The bill authorizes a land exchange between Sandia Pueblo and the federal government in an area that was created by Congress through the T'uf Shur Bien Preservation Trust Area Act of 2003. Finally, the committee passed S.920, to allow the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in Minnesota to lease or transfer certain land. Committee Notice:
