Supreme Court declines to take up Onondaga Nation land claim

The U.S. Supreme Court today declined to review the Onondaga Nation land claim.

Without comment, the justices rejected a petition in Onondaga Nation v. New York in an order. The move means a decision from the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals to dismiss the claim will stand.

The 2nd Circuit has dismissed nearly every tribal land claim under the premise that they are "disruptive" to non-Indian residents and governments.
