Commissioners in Fremont County, Wyoming, voted 3-2 to oppose a land-into-trust application submitted by the
Northern Arapaho Tribe.
The tribe started the process for a 199-acre parcel and a 79-acre parcel several years ago. But some commissioners say the tribe owes back taxes on the 199-acre parcel.
The county sent a letter to the
Bureau of Indian Affairs, urging the agency not to acquire the land unless the tribe pays $4,543 on the larger parcel, The Riverton Ranger reported.
