A federal jury is debating the fate of a man who is accused of murdering two children on the
Spirit Lake Nation in
North Dakota.
Closing arguments were held on Thursday in the case of Valentino “Tino” Bagola, 20. He is accused of abusing and murdering
Destiny
Jane Shaw-DuBois, 9, and
Travis
Lee DuBois Jr, 6, in a home on the reservation in May 2011.
Bagola did not testify in his own defense. But his attorneys tried to lay the blame on the children's father, Travis DuBois Sr., who initially told
FBI agents that he killed them.
DNA evidence and other evidence, however, connected Bagola to the crime, federal prosecutors said.
