Tribal members in Wisconsin to protest R-word at next game

Tribal members in Wisconsin will be calling for an end to Indian mascots at a Green Bay Packers game this Sunday.

The Wisconsin Indian Education Association is organizing the protest. It will take place as the Packers host the Washington team.

“We support effectively removing all race-based stereotypes,” Barb Munson, a member of the Oneida Nation, told The Fond du Lac Reporter.

The Oneida Nation sponsors a gate at the Lambeau Field and officially opposes Indian mascots. But the tribe is not taking part in the protest, a council member said.
