Mescalero Apache Nation names Sandra Platero as president
The Mescalero Apache Nation of New Mexico has named Sandra Platero as president following the resignation of former president Frederick Chino.
Platero will serve the remainder of Chino's term so she'll be in office until January 2014, The Ruidoso News reported. An election in November will determine the next president.
Chino abruptly resigned in July. He and Platero had been placed on administrative leave at the time.
