The
Cherokee Nation will be expanding car tag sales throughout all of Oklahoma.
The tribe currently sells car tags to members in a 14-county jurisdictional area. A new compact -- to be signed on Friday -- will authorize all Cherokee citizens in the state to carry tribal tags.
“These compacts reflect a dramatic expansion in Cherokee car tag sales,”
Cherokee Nation Council Deputy Speaker Chuck Hoskin Jr. said in a press release. “For the first time, Cherokees across the state will be able to have a Cherokee tag.
The tribe sets aside a portion of the revenues for public schools in the 14-county area.
