Leaders of the
Blackfeet Nation of Montana requested an investigation into a youth program that received $9.6 million in federal funds.
The tribal council suspended Francis Onstad and Delyle “Shanny” Augare, the director and assistant director of the Po’Ka Project, over a year ago, the Associated Press reported. There have been allegations of mismanagement involving the two former employees.
“They never seemed to have to follow the law, or the tribe’s policies and procedures,” former treasurer Joe Gervais told the AP, referring to Onstad and Augare.
The program stopped running after federal funds dried up in 2011.
