The Manitoba government will begin an inquest into the death of a Native man who waited 34 hours in a hospital emergency room.
Brian Sinclair, 45, was from the Sagkeeng First Nation. He died in
September 2008 of a bladder infection that could have been prevented if he had
been treated earlier, Manitoba's chief medical examiner previously determined.
A criminal inquiry was launched but no charges were brought against anyone.
Sinclair's family sued the province but a court on Tuesday limited the breadth of the lawsuit.
The inquiry will begin August 6. The family plans to appeal the court decision.
