Man faces year for stealing $40 on Chitimacha Reservation

A 21-year-old man faces a year in federal prison for stealing $40 from a donation jar on the Chitimacha Reservation in Louisiana.
Kendrick T. Edmond pleaded guilty to one count of larceny. He admitted he stole the money from a donation jar on the counter at the Chitimacha Trading Post.
The jar was placed there to raise money for a tribal member who is suffering from cancer, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Louisiana said in a press release.
A sentencing date hasn't been set but Edmond faces up to one year in prison, one year of supervised release, restitution and a $100,000 fine, according to the press release.
