Tribes participate in study to control dogs with contraception

Two tribes are participating in a study to determine whether wild dog populations can be controlled with contraception.

The Department of Agriculture and Spay First are conducting the $60,000 study. Dogs on the two reservations will be injected with GonaCon, a birth control vaccine that has been used on other animals with successful results.

The two tribes have asked not to be identified until the study is further along, the Associated Press reported.
