Bill Clinton helps South Dakota tribes with wind energy project

Former president
Bill Clinton
(D) is helping six South Dakota tribe promote a wind energy project.
The
Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe
, the
Crow Creek Sioux Tribe
, the
Oglala Sioux Tribe
, the
Rosebud Sioux Tribe
, the
Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate
and the
Yankton Sioux Tribe
plan to erect wind turbines on their reservations. The $3 billion network could generate at least 1,000 megawatts of electricity, which could be sold on the open market.
“It’ll have a big impact,” Crow Creek Sioux Chairman Brandon Sazue told The Sioux Falls Argus Leader.
Clinton announced the project at a
Clinton Global Initiative
last week. Former Sen.
Byron Dorgan
(D-North Dakota) is part of the project.
