BIA backs Fond du Lac Band's land-into-trust application

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is publishing notice of a decision to take 199 acres in trust for the Fond du Lac Band of Chippewa Indians in Minnesota.

The decision was made by the superintendent of the Minnesota Agency. The notice says the land will be placed in trust within 30 days.

The Obama administration has proposed a rule that would eliminate the 30-day waiting period in light of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Salazar v. Patchak.
