Federal agencies monitored First Nations youth advocate

Two government agencies monitored a Native youth advocate, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada said.

The Department of Aboriginal Affairs and the Department of Justice went into the Facebook page of Cindy Blackstock, the executive director of First Nations Caring Society. They collected personal information about her in violation of the Privacy Act, Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart said.

Blackstock was targeted for her work on Native child welfare issues.
