Jim Gawboy, a 76-year-old member of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa in Minnesota, and his wife are the proud parents of 12 adopted children.

Gawboy and 60-year-old Rebecca became foster parents, and then adoptive parents, late in life. They have welcomed a dozen children -- all Ojibwe -- into their home since 1996.

“We’re really pros at this. We have a lot of experience," Rebecca told The New York Times for a story about adults who adopt later in life.
