Stockbridge-Munsee Community recalls president from office

Members of the Stockbridge-Munsee
Community of Wisconsin voted to recall President Robert Chicks from office.
The vote to recall Chicks was 224 to 128, according to a copy of the certified results that was posted on the tribe's website.
The recall effort began after Chicks was arrested in connection with a traffic citation off the reservation. He allegedly used his tribal credit card to post $300 bond and his his identity from the officer.
Chicks has pleaded not guilty to charges of operating without a license, obstructing an officer, theft and bail jumping.
Vice President Wally Miller will serve as interim president until the vacancy is filled. A special election is being scheduled, the tribe said in a press release.
