President Barack Obama will nominate Anthony R. Foxx, the mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina, as the next Secretary of the
Department of Transportation, according to news reports.
DOT plays a role in the
Tribal Transportation Program, previously known as
Indian
Reservation Roads.
The department works with the
Bureau of Indian Affairs to fund road, bridge and other transportation projects in Indian Country and in Alaska Native villages.
Foxx, if confirmed by the
Senate, will succeed
Ray LaHood.
