Tribes to monitor construction at $1.3B fertilizer plant in Iowa
Monday, April 1, 2013
Two tribes will monitor construction of a $1.3 billion fertilizer plant in Iowa to ensure a historic site is properly excavated.
Fragments of a clay pipe were found at the Iowa Fertilizer Company's plant.
That could indicate the presence of remains, in addition to a seasonal camp at the site.
The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska and the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of Montana will send representatives to monitor the site.
