Former president of Alaska Native village charged with theft

The former president of the Native Village of Tatitlek was arrested in Alaska on Wednesday on charges that she stole more than $200,000 from the tribe.

Lori “Sue” Johnson, whose married name is Lori Clum, was ousted a president of Tatitlek in April 2008, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Alaska said in a press release. But she refused to step down and kept using the tribe's bank accounts for another year, the office said.

Johnson was charged with three counts of theft from an Indian Tribal Organization. Her brother, who allegedly received money stolen from the tribe, was charged with one count of theft.
