The Crow Tribe of Montana reacquired a 1,933-acre ranch within reservation boundaries at an auction on Tuesday.
The tribe placed the winning bid of $989,400 for the
Hairpin Cavvy ranch. The property fell out of tribal hands about 70 years ago, The Billings Gazette reported.
“It feels good,” Chairman Darrin Old Coyote told the paper. “Instead of tribal lands receding, we’re actually gaining some lands back and that’s our whole intent.”
