Former Rep. Dale Kildee joining two firms in Washington, DC
Friday, March 22, 2013
Former Rep. Dale Kildee (D-Michigan), one of the founders of the Congressional Native American Caucus, is joining two law and lobbying firms in Washington, D.C.
Kildee will be a senior consultant at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. He's also going to be a policy advisor at Ietan Consulting.
"For most of my public career, both in the Michigan State Legislature and in the U.S. Congress, I have had the honor and privilege to work with Indian tribes to bring some justice to Indian Country,” Kildee said in a press release. “I look forward to continuing my role in advocating for the inherent sovereignty of tribal governments.”
Kildee retired from Congress at the end of 2012, after more than 30 years of service. Under federal law, he can't lobby his former colleagues for a one-year period.
