The
Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community has donated $50,000 to the
Scott County Historical Society in Minnesota.
The grant represents a significant amount for the group. Last year, the society's entire budget was $160,000.
“It is our hope that the Scott County Historical Society will be able to further develop their offerings so that the larger community can learn more about life in the county in the past,” Shakopee Chairman Charlie Vig told The Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The society will use the money to renovate the Stans Museum and open an Indian history gallery.
