Robinson Rancheria chairwoman asks judge to delay theft trial

Tracey I. Avila, the chairwoman of the Robinson Rancheria Pomo Indians of California, is seeking to delay her trial in a theft case.

Avila is set to go to trial on February 27. But her lawyers asked for a continuance due to her health issues, The Lake County Record-Bee reported.

Avila, 51, faces one felony count of grand theft. She is accused of stealing more than $60,000 from the Elem Pomo Tribe, where she was employed as fiscal officer.

Avila has pleaded not guilty.
