The
Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is dropping its tribal court bar exam.
The test was required for attorneys who wanted to practice before the
tribal court. But it became more complex over the years, resulting in fewer admitted attorneys.
"It's a positive change," Edward Gasser, the president of the tribal court bar association, told The New London Day. "It opens it up to more attorneys."
Between 150 and 200 attorneys are admitted, a number that Gasser expects to rise now that the test has been dropped.
