A man from
Laguna Pueblo in New Mexico was sentenced to 182 days in connection with the death of a non-Indian cyclist
Gilbert Waconda, 58, pleaded guilty in tribal court to negligent homicide. He admitted that his car struck and killed John Anczarski Jr., 18, on the reservation in June 2010.
Anczarski, was participating in a nationwide bike run to raise money for breast cancer research when he was killed.
Federal authorities declined to bring charges against Waconda.
