Three plead guilty for $500K fraud case involving Crow Tribe

Three people pleaded guilty for their roles in stealing more than $500,000 from the Crow Tribe of Montana.

Larkin Troy Chandler, 46, and Mark James Denny, 33, pleaded guilty to stealing from the Crow Tribe Historic Preservation Office. Frederick Paul Deputee Jr., 25, pleaded guilty to stealing from a subcontractor that did work for the office.

Four others are charged in the scheme. Federal authorities say they created fake invoices for cultural monitoring services and took money that was meant for the tribe.

Deputee is the grandson of Dale Drew Old Horn, 67, the former director of the office. He's also been charged in the theft.
