A Native teen tells CBC News that he witnessed two men attacking a Native woman in what is being investigated as a hate crime in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
The 19-year-old Oji-Cree youth had a confrontation with two men on the night of December 27. He ran away and hid in the bushes and later saw them drag a Native woman into their van.
The unidentified teen says the men yelled racial slurs at him. They are accused of doing the same to the 36-year-old woman, who was sexually assaulted.
“If I knew what they were gonna do to that lady afterwards, I would have done something,” the teen tells CBC.
The teen said he hasn't shared his story with police because he doesn't trust them.
