San Carlos Apache Tribe helps members affected by hurricane

The San Carlos Apache Tribe of Arizona is helping two members who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Curtis Harris and his nephew Zachary Harris live in Montclair, New Jersey. They have been without heat and power since the storm hit the east coast over weeks ago.

“We have been without heat or electricity and we don’t know when the power will be turned back on. We have not had any way to fix meals,” the elder Harris told The Apache Moccasin.

A second storm brought snow to the region, complicating rebuilding efforts. But Harris said the tribe's assistance will help.

“I’ve never asked for assistance from the tribe but I’m feeling overwhelmed right now. I can’t thank them enough,” Harris told the paper.
